British Airways has temporarily suspended all flights to Dubai and Doha in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement, the UK airline confirmed that all flights scheduled to depart London Heathrow for Dubai and Doha on 22 June, along with their return services, have been cancelled. The airline said it continues to monitor the situation closely and may make further adjustments as needed.
The move follows increased hostilities in the region, including US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in the early hours of 22 June, continued Israeli military operations in Gaza, and heightened tensions between Israel and Iran.
“As a result of recent events, we have adjusted our flight schedule to ensure the safety of our customers and crew,” the airline said.
British Airways is reaching out to affected passengers and offering a flexible booking policy. Customers due to travel between now and 24 June can rebook their flights free of charge up to 6 July by contacting the airline directly.
Additional flight disruptions have already occurred. On Sunday morning, a BA flight from Chennai to London was forced to reroute less than an hour after take-off, following news of the US strikes. Another BA service was diverted to Zurich on Saturday night while en route over Saudi airspace.
In light of the evolving situation, British Airways has also suspended all flights to Bahrain until the end of June, citing the same safety concerns.
Other international carriers have responded similarly. Air Canada and United Airlines have both cancelled flights to Dubai, and American Airlines has paused operations to Doha.
Travellers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date information on flight schedules and alternative arrangements.
