British Airways Unveils a New Era of Lounge Luxury in Miami and Dubai

British Airways has officially unveiled its bold new lounge design concept, marking a significant step in the airline’s £7 billion transformation program. The first two lounges to showcase this next-generation design have opened at Miami International Airport and Dubai International Airport, setting a new standard in premium travel experiences.

A New Vision for Global Lounges

Developed in partnership with global architecture and design firm Gensler, the airline’s new concept blends British elegance with local character. Each space is inspired by its destination — Art Deco influences and sunlit charm in Miami, and intricate fretwork patterns with Middle Eastern warmth in Dubai.

Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, commented:

“We’re thrilled to be unveiling our new design concept with new lounges in both Miami and Dubai. These unique spaces have been created with our customers in mind and are the next step in our extensive lounge transformation plan. Whether they’re looking to relax, dine, work or enjoy a drink at the fully staffed bar, there’s something for everyone.”

The Miami Lounge: Where British Originality Meets Art Deco

For the first time in decades, British Airways customers in Miami can enjoy an exclusive lounge experience spanning over 13,000 square feet, making it the airline’s largest lounge outside of London.

Located in Terminal E, the Miami lounge celebrates the city’s iconic Art Deco architecture and tropical light, using locally sourced materials and Miami-based contractors. A striking full-service bar takes centre stage, offering signature cocktails such as the Prickly Margarita, alongside a range of premium spirits and local ales.

The lounge’s design offers five distinct zones, including private pods for business travellers, a relaxed central lounge, a self-service dining area with locally inspired dishes, and two luxurious shower suites.

Guests travelling in First Class have access to the exclusive Concorde Dining Room, offering à la carte dishes such as Wagyu beef, diver scallops, and premium Champagne and English sparkling wines.

The Dubai Lounge: Elegance Meets the Emirates

At Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 1, the new British Airways lounge spans nearly 5,800 square feet, reflecting a seamless blend of contemporary British design and Middle Eastern artistry.

Brought to life by local contractor Al Tayer Stocks, the space features arched entrances, patterned metal panelling, and rich marble finishes. The central full-service bar and chandelier ceiling installation create a sense of understated glamour.

The dining area offers a selection of British and Arabic dishes, from mezze and Arabic breakfasts to the airline’s signature Wagyu burger. Guests can also enjoy Coffee Planet, a UAE-founded brand, and Birchall Tea, British Airways’ new global tea partner.

Travellers in First Class are invited to a dedicated Concorde Dining Room, serving refined favourites such as Scottish smoked salmon and the traditional Umm Ali dessert.

A Cohesive Global Experience

The openings in Miami and Dubai represent more than just aesthetic upgrades — they set a new architectural and service standard across British Airways’ network. Rooted in hospitality, the lounges are designed to be welcoming, restorative, and intuitive, offering a sanctuary for travellers worldwide.

Ashley Dowell, Design Director at Gensler, summarised:

“The new lounges reflect a global journey framed through a British lens — welcoming, intuitive, and bold, offering travellers a surprising retreat to relax, work and socialise.”
