On 15 December 2025, a quietly ambitious new resort concept welcomed its first guests in one of the Maldives’ most protected and awe-inspiring regions. .Here Baa Atoll Maldives has officially opened Somewhere Island, the first phase of an ultra-exclusive private island retreat set within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll.

With just nine private residences spread across two natural islands, .Here introduces a refined vision of Maldivian luxury — one defined not by scale, but by intimacy, imagination and deeply personal experiences. A second island, Nowhere, is scheduled to open in Q1 2026, completing one of the most discreet and design-led resort concepts the Maldives has seen.

Somewhere Island: Now Open

Somewhere Island is home to seven expansive private residences, each designed to blend beachfront and overwater living into a single, seamless flow. These villas are impressive not only in scale, but in how effortlessly they connect guests to their surroundings.

Expect:

  • Vast indoor-outdoor living spaces
  • Suspended sky infinity pools stretching up to 47 metres
  • Uninterrupted ocean views from sunrise through to sunset
  • Private boat jetties directly from each residence

Every stay is supported by a dedicated Roohu (butler), with each itinerary shaped entirely around the guest — from private dining experiences and bespoke excursions to in-residence wellness treatments. For those who wish to balance seclusion with energy, guests also enjoy access to selected facilities at neighbouring Seaside Finolhu, connected by a pristine stretch of white sand.

As Co-owner Anouchka Gerlach explains, Somewhere Island was born from a deeply personal idea — one rooted in imagination, intimacy and genuine connection to place.

A Culinary Identity Shaped by Experience

At the heart of the resort’s gastronomic offering is Executive Chef Georgios Vasilopoulos, whose career spans nearly two decades at renowned hotels including Badrutt’s Palace and Raffles Dubai.

Dining at .Here is intentionally fluid and personal. At Safar, the resort’s restaurant and bar, globally inspired techniques meet the flavours of the Indian Ocean. Elsewhere, guests can enjoy private in-residence tasting menus and atmospheric dining under the stars — all drawing from the natural bounty of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve.

Looking Ahead: Nowhere Island (Opening Q1 2026)

The second phase of the resort, Nowhere Island, will elevate privacy to its purest form. Designed for complete private buy-out, this secluded hideaway will feature just two exceptional residences, including an extraordinary five-bedroom Presidential Residence.

Nowhere Island will also introduce:

  • Fehi Wellness, the resort’s dedicated wellness and fitness centre
  • Expanded water sports facilities
  • A setting created for absolute tranquillity and uninterrupted connection to nature

General Manager Steven Phillips describes .Here as a place guided by intention rather than spectacle — where every detail feels personal and every moment entirely one’s own.

Design Rooted in Nature

Designed by Kulör Group, with interiors by award-winning British studio Muza Lab, .Here blends sustainable architecture with natural materials and panoramic views. Inspired by the curves of traditional Maldivian dhoni boats, pavilion roofs rise like sails above the islands, creating spaces that feel both sculptural and grounded in place.

Despite being one of the smallest luxury resorts in the Maldives, .Here offers the depth and diversity of a full resort experience — from PADI diving and private water sports to personalised wellness and dining, all delivered with exceptional discretion.

A Setting Like No Other

Set within the UNESCO-protected Baa Atoll, the resort is surrounded by pristine beaches, vibrant coral reefs and extraordinary marine life. Hanifaru Bay — a renowned manta ray and whale shark hotspot — lies just a short distance away, alongside more than 30 dive sites.

Reached by a scenic 30-minute seaplane flight from Malé, .Here feels wonderfully remote, yet deeply connected to the rhythms of the natural world.

Somewhere and Nowhere, All at Once

.Here is not simply a resort — it is an invitation to slow down, to reconnect, and to exist fully in the present moment. Whether drifting between ocean and sky in a private infinity pool, dining beneath the stars, or doing nothing at all, this is a place where luxury feels intuitive, personal and quietly profound.

Somewhere is open. Nowhere is coming. And every moment begins again.
