Hotel Hopping: The Travel Trend That’s Worth Trying

There’s a new growing travel trend I’ve personally embraced for years — and I’m delighted to see more travelers discovering it too. It’s called hotel hopping, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: instead of staying in one hotel for your entire trip, you move between two or more during your stay, often within the same city or destination.

It’s a brilliant way to experience multiple neighbourhoods, atmospheres, and hotel styles all in one holiday. Whether you’re exploring a big city like Bangkok or Dubai, or even mixing coastal resorts in places like Phuket or Bali, hotel hopping gives you a more rounded and rewarding experience — and it’s something I regularly arrange for my clients.

🏨 What Is Hotel Hopping?

Hotel hopping involves splitting your stay between different hotels in the same destination (or even resort)— perhaps three nights in a stylish city hotel, followed by a few nights in a beachfront resort or a quieter area. The concept isn’t about rushing around, but about variety: soaking up different neighbourhoods, vibes, and perks.

When I travel myself, I often plan it this way. For instance, I might start with a few nights somewhere central and lively, then finish the trip somewhere peaceful and scenic. It’s the best of both worlds — and it keeps the trip fresh and exciting.

🌟 Why I Recommend It to Clients

I’ve arranged many hotel-hopping stays for my clients over the years — and they almost always say it made their holiday feel like two or three trips in one. It does require a little more planning, especially when arranging transfers between hotels, but I can always provide advice or organise the best way to make that part smooth and simple.

💡 10 Reasons Hotel Hopping Is a Great Idea

  1. You won’t get bored in one area – Each neighbourhood or resort has its own unique charm.
  2. Different vibes, even a mile apart – One hotel might be lively and social, the next peaceful and romantic.
  3. Try a mix of styles – Combine luxury with boutique charm, or beachfront relaxation with city buzz.
  4. See more of your destination – You’ll experience more culture, food, and scenery without extra flights.
  5. Make the most of perks – Enjoy two sets of pools, spas, breakfasts, and lounges instead of one.
  6. Perfect for longer stays – Splitting a 10 or 14-night trip keeps things feeling fresh.
  7. Ideal for couples – Start somewhere lively, end somewhere serene.
  8. Tailor-made experiences – I can design stays based on your interests, from nightlife to nature.
  9. Flexibility with budgets – Spend a few nights in a high-end hotel, then balance with a more affordable one.
  10. It feels like two holidays in one – You’ll return home with twice the memories and experiences.

🚗 Transfers

Hotel hopping does generally mean arranging transfers between properties, but this is often straightforward I can advise on the easiest, most cost-effective ways to move between them, or request a custome quote private transfers where needed (but usually double the price).

🌍 My Take

For me, hotel hopping adds real depth to a trip. It’s a great way to understand a destination better, meet different people, and enjoy a richer, more varied experience.

If you’d like to try hotel hopping for your next holiday, I’d be happy to help plan it — from choosing the perfect mix of hotels to arranging your transfers and timings.
