Jamaica has announced a bold plan to have its tourism industry fully back up and running by 15 December 2025, following the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett said the government has set up a special Recovery Task Force to fast-track repairs and get hotels, beaches, and attractions ready to welcome visitors again. The goal is simple: make sure travellers can enjoy the island safely and confidently before the busy Christmas and winter-sun season begins.
“Recovery cannot be left to chance,” said Minister Bartlett. “We’re bringing every part of the industry together to make sure Jamaica is ready for guests by mid-December.”
What Travellers Can Expect
The new task force brings together some of Jamaica’s top tourism leaders — including hotel groups, attractions, and government agencies — all focused on getting the island’s world-famous destinations back in top shape.
Teams are already assessing beaches, resorts, and transport links to ensure that repairs move quickly and that the visitor experience remains smooth and safe.
Travellers can expect regular updates from the Ministry of Tourism as work progresses, with the promise of a full return to normal operations before the end of the year.
A Confident Return for Jamaica
Jamaica remains one of the Caribbean’s most loved destinations — known for its golden beaches, reggae spirit, and warm hospitality. The country’s fast, coordinated response shows just how important tourism is to its people and economy.
By setting a clear deadline and working hand-in-hand with resorts, airlines, and local communities, Jamaica is making sure its visitors can return soon — and experience the island at its very best once again.
Looking Ahead
As December approaches, optimism is growing that Jamaica will be fully ready for winter sun holidays. With flights, resorts, and attractions expected to be operating as normal, the message is clear:
